The XQuartz project was originally based on the version of X11 included in Mac OS X v10.5. To Paste between a Mac OS X native app and an X11 app, first copy from the Mac OS X app (Edit menu > Copy), then Option + Click in the X11 app. Why uninstalling XQuartz on Mac When using Mac, you may notice an app titled as X11, which you have no idea what it is use for. X11 is a remote-display protocol used by Linux/Unix machines, including the Linux machines at Thayer.
